Source. Deal items are wire stories the daily classifier tagged with a deal type (spec sale, option, greenlight, adaptation, remake/reboot, series order, etc.) — deduplicated by URL, keeping the first sighting when a story is republished across days. Every entry links to the original reporting.
Why amounts are quoted, never compared. Only 15 of 345 deal items (4%) in the trailing 90 days since ScreamWire began capturing deal amounts (2026-06-12) report a dollar figure — and the figures that exist are free text ("rich eight-figure deal", "€10 million"), never rendered as comparable numbers. This is a deal-flow tracker — who's buying what, from whom, when — not a comps database.
Buyer/seller capture. A buyer is named on 27% and a seller on 14% of tracked deal items in the trailing 90 days — captured as reported, never inferred. The "most active buyers" stat only counts buyers that resolve to a tracked entity in ScreamWire's registry; an unresolved or unnamed buyer is never guessed at.
